Michael L. Siciliano

I am a labor researcher and sociology professor. My research examines how power operates inside workplaces and has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Ethnography, Organization Studies, Poetics, International Journal of Cultural Policy, International Journal of Communication, and Research in the Sociology of Work.

My first book Creative Control: The Ambivalence of Work in the Culture Industries was published in 2021 by Columbia University Press.

My teaching takes a global perspective on labor, media, and culture while focusing on the social processes that produce and mediate inequality in terms of the intersections of class, race, gender, sexuality, and place.
